SAFETY....a growing concern in the mobile industry
Posted: 07/07/2010
It seems you can't drive for 5 minutes without seeing someone on the phone talking, texting, or doing some other non-driving related activity. As the line between work and home becomes less apparent it's no wonder people must find time to multi-task in order to fit everything into a day's schedule.
However, multi-tasking adds dangerous distractions to even the most seasoned driver. Did you know that talking on a hands-free cell phone reduces your cognitive attention to the road?
The danger of reaching for an object that has shifted in the car or slid onto the floor actually triples your chances of accident risk because it involves all 3 types of distractions. Not only is your mind "cognitively" distracted thinking about the item, but one hand is removed from the wheel to grab the item (manual distraction) and your eyes divert back and forth from the road to the object you are reaching for (visual distraction). When you triple the types of distractions, you triple your risk too.
The next time an object slides off your seat, or your purse or briefcase spills out its contents, try to remember this: "Even just a split second can cost more than anyone should ever have to pay".
Your safety is as important to us at AutoExec as the safety of our own families. Arrive safely! Keep your eyes on the road, hands on the wheel and mind on driving....people are counting on you! |
